Just like that it was time for all us Juniors and Cadets to warm up for our matches. I had a first round bye and this gave me extra ends to sight in both my bows more precisely before my first round. Oddly enough I chose to shoot my older Hoyt X over the bow I used in qualifications – my Xi. The X was shooting tighter groups and I had more confidence with it. The 1/8s was my first match and it went well. All my shots were coming easy and I was able to retire my opponent in three ends. Next round went well too, I felt unstoppable.
In the semifinals I lost my shot and my follow through was weak. By the time I figured it out Richelle had advanced to the gold medal round and I would be shooting for bronze. For the second time in a row at a USAT i would be shooting against a very good friend, Liberty. The match against her was a very good one, as always we both shot our hearts out and had fun along the way. Liberty, your time is coming soon and you will crush it – I will be truly happy for you!
I took the bronze at the end of all this madness and I could not be happier. This is the first outdoor podium for me of the 2020 season. I could not have done this without my training partner Lillian for always being there to make training more enjoyable and fun. You did so good this tournament and I can’t wait to see what you’ll do at Gator.
Thanks to my sponsors: OCD Strings, Ram Rods, The Nock Point and Next Step Archery. Special that I you to Coach Bobby and Mr Bill! Without them I would not be where I am today.
See everyone in a month at Gator.
