I shot in blocks of 200 and took 10 minute breaks between each. These breaks helped recovery and allowed me to keep up the quick pace. After the first 500 arrows I felt really fresh and ready to finish strong but just to be safe I switched to my light weight bow so I could prevent any fatigue later on. Switching to the light weight bow helped a lot through the last 200, my arms were quite tired.
Throughout the 1000 Arrow Challenge I knew I could not let getting tired affect me so I had various things around me to keep me from thinking about fatigue. For one I had all my favorite snacks to eat all through the day. This helped keep my energy up and my spirits high. Also while shooting I streamed anime in the background to help pass the time. All of these things helped me finish this tough challenge and helped maintain my strong mindset and determination.
This challenge is difficult on your body and mind, it is also very time consuming so stamina is a must. I believe anyone with the drive can do this and to prove it my papa shot the challenge with me. He hadn’t shot in nearly 7 years but with his 14lb bow, which through the day went from Olympic to bare bow, he too finished the challenge successfully! It goes to show this is largely a mental challenge, you just have to tough it out and be 100% committed all the way through to the end.
?Safety is first priority while shooting this challenge. My dad and I discussed it last night and if at anytime he/I feel I’m at risk we will pull the plug. Please be careful and honest with yourself if you decide to take on the 1,000 arrow challenge.?
